Notice how each of my blog posts now has a table of contents

Notice how each of my blog posts now has a table of contents, or TOC, for readers who have trouble concentrating on too many words at a time. It focuses on word spacing. This may also help those who have ADD, or Attention Deficit Disorder. This makes it easier for you to follow my blog post. If you're like me, reading from beginning to end becomes boring and tedious. Though this is a crochet blog, this topic expands beyond crochet. Reading patterns about basic techniques come to mind.

Words get broken into smaller bits

Words break into smaller bits of information that overwhelm all information at the same time. Skip and read instead of reading from front to back. Anxiety settles in and makes it difficult to focus. The table of contents is on the top left side. Look for every blog post heading and subheading. It's easy. Please share. From now on, look for every blog post you can find. Skim through. It's easy. Once you're done, please share this article.

Back to my Story

As a child, I had trouble paying attention in class. I recall in the 4th grade when I was 10 years old. The material that the teacher explained overwhelmed me. It was much to bear. I daydreamed a lot. By the time I finished daydreaming, my mind returned to reality. The teacher finished explaining the class lesson. I imagined myself doing better if I pay attention better. Those of you in my position have understood.

At 46, my paternal aunt mentioned to me I have a family history of ADD. I get excited when speaking. I'm not sure if it's a personality thing or part of the symptoms. Low self-esteem is involved. As a child, I felt stupid. I never get good grades as the smarter kids did. They always answered correctly.

When I was 10 years old, I envied a new girl in my 4th-grade class to where I despised her. She got better grades than me, no matter how hard I tried. I thought her being left-handed had something to do with it. She wrote so well as a 10-year-old. Her cursive handwriting curved towards the right of the page. I, a right-hander, mimicked her writing style. I could do good as her, so I thought. It wasn't the case.

I wish that technology existed back then, like today. We have smartphones with search options on a page. I find a search term and highlight it. I am a deep reader. The anticipation is aggravating and boring. At least to me, it is. I am anxious to know what the article is about and what is to come. Others have this problem.

Of course, back then were manual fluorescent highlighters. All I had to do was to highlight the word I wanted on a physical page. But after I highlighted the first word I wanted, I then wanted to erase the former word and highlight a new one. These were the days before the digital age, unlike today. We add, erase, and not waste paper in the process!

This is to help people like me understand. I hope this makes sense end my love goes out to all who strive and do our best in life.

The subject will have to be saved for another article. I want to keep my focus on the table of contents. For those who had trouble like me, it's easier to focus on pieces of information. Today I'm a better person with the medical help of medication and therapy. It helps ease my mind and I focus better. Little did I know back then that ADD even existed back then when no one knew what it was back in the late 1970s/early 1980s. Not even in school.
